Ninawa "Pai da Mata" about the Huni Kuin tribe

The situation in Brazil, given the unfortunate political situation related to the incoming dictatorship of president-elect Jair Bolsonaro, affects us deeply. Since we have been making an annual trip to Brazil not only for several years, we have the opportunity to follow the events and mood in this beautiful country really closely. Unfortunately, our last visit was very much affected by the current situation, which is really alarming.

As a result of the government's attitudes, the suppression of minority rights in Brazil, particularly those of indigenous peoples, is coming to the surface to a large extent, and claims are being made to territories inhabited by Indians in order to exploit the mineral wealth found in the Amazon. For us, this situation does not just concern Brazil, but is a global problem that affects us all. That is why we decided to participate in raising awareness about this problem, the genocide currently taking place, so that as many people as possible can learn about what is happening in Brazil and take a stand on the situation, express their position and perhaps contribute to changing the understanding of what Me and We means.

We bring you a video with Ninawa "Pai da Mata" (Father of the Forest), proper name Francisco de Assis Mateus de Lima. Ninawa is a great shaman of the Huni Kuin people and spiritual leader in the village of Novo Futuro on the Humanitá River in Acre, Brazil. The village is located four days away from the nearest town of Tarauacá. We asked Ninawa to tell us a few words about the life of his tribe.
