Vale do Amanhecer

Vale do Amanhecer = Valley of Dawn

Or what the chief of the Tupinambá tribe has in common with Francis of Assisi, why it is good to know the spiritual cause of your illnesses and how the media works in Brazil.

"We are actually a spiritual hospital", explains a "guide" in the community of Vale do Amanhecer in central Brazil, where the main temple of this Brazilian spiritual cult, founded in the 1970s, is also located. The temple is, not coincidentally, in the shape of a spaceship, because the followers of this movement believe that 32 million years ago our planet was inhabited by aliens. These same aliens have continually reincarnated on Earth in different times and cultures. And it is the members of the Vale do Amanhecer who believe they are their descendants and call themselves Jaguars. All those who work in the Vale are psychics, and they make this ability available to people who come here in good faith to heal, completely free of charge. Mediums work for free because they see their mediumistic abilities as a karmic debt from other lives. To put it simply - one who is a medium should not think of himself as being special in anything, quite the opposite: these abilities have been bestowed upon him in this life because he has not always behaved like a lamb in past lives. Now he has the opportunity as a medium to help others and thus reduce his karma.

It's not our first time in Brazil, so we are used to the syncretic blending of different religions. But what we see in Vale works a lot with our preconceptions. After all, nowhere else are there Egyptian hieroglyphics, a Jewish star and at the same time Inca symbols or images of some Umbanda orixás to be seen alongside the unearthly Jesus. This is also the work of Vale - to remove all your prejudices.

What we like is that even though so many different spiritual symbols can seem chaotic, there is a clear order in the temple. The first part is the area where the mediums prepare to work at the big round table, receiving instructions and, most importantly, energy to do their work.

Around the perimeter of the temple are the so-called thrones, which are divided according to colour - yellow, green, red and blue. Here the mediums sit according to hierarchy during special ceremonies. In the second part there is a large area for media consultations. Here, an hour before the start time, people are already lined up in an orderly fashion, waiting their turn.

Here you can see Brazilians living in very modest circumstances, but of course also wealthier people who seek not only healing of the body, but also of the mind and soul. Consultation with mediums is essential, because there you will also learn what type of healing is suitable for you. You can do healing that resembles energy work, smudging and many others - there are many rooms and most of the names can't even be translated. The important thing is the basic idea common to all Brazilian spiritualist movements: all mystical-spiritual work believes that illness needs to be treated not only on the physical-material plane, but also on the spiritual plane.

If your illness is only of physical origin, a consultation with an "ordinary" psychic is enough to know the cause and give fairly clear recommendations. But if your illness is of spiritual origin, that is, you have been possessed by evil spirits that can cause, for example, various types of addictions or mental illness, you need a special type of healing ritual. For example, the Ritual of the Star, which takes place only once a month and is designed for people who are in difficult periods in their lives. The ritual takes place by a lake whose shores are arranged in the form of a six-pointed star. One patient sits at each point of the star. A healing is then arranged for them, during which the whole community prays for them. The ceremony has a predetermined structure, during which sacred Vale songs are sung and selected Jaguars place their hands on the sick.

But let's go back to the media consultations that take place in the temple every afternoon. The mediums here are really hard-working - partly because they believe that the more they make their gift available to others, they themselves will be cured of their karmic burden. Mediums always work in pairs - the active medium you come to for a consultation incorporates and then communicates to you what they read from your energy field. The working medium directs the other person-medium in the pair, the so-called doctrinator. He or she stops the medium when he or she sees that he or she needs a moment to recharge or when he or she is working with the evil spirits that people come in with. Then the medium needs to be stopped and reminded what the purpose of the work is. The consultations here are safe precisely because the medium is constantly being corrected and directed to work for good. As we know, when a channel opens, not everyone can focus their mediumistic quality on healing alone. There is a need for regular training in working with mediumistic abilities, which all mediums in the Vale undergo. The medium also does not look at his patient as a matter of principle, so as much objectivity as possible is guaranteed.

In addition to various types of healing, you can also take holy water from the temple, all free of charge. We really liked the ritual smudging with the local amescla - it has a lot of grace because, as the locals explain to us, it is not only for cleansing the auric body and spaces, but it also raises their energy. That's why we are happy to find amescla in a local humble shop and at least this way we can contribute to all Jaguars for their free energy-spiritual healing.

For those who like facts

Vale do Amanhecer was founded in 1959 by Neiva Chaves Zelaya. Tia Neiva, as she is called, was a widow with four children who worked as the first female truck driver - on the construction of the capital Brasília. It was also here that she received the first visions to found the cult of Vale do Amanhecer. In her visions, Pai Seta Branca (Father of the White Arrow), who is the spiritual mentor of the cult, appeared to her. Pai Seta Branca was in his last incarnation the chief of the Tupinambá Indians, and in earlier ones he was also Francis of Assisi. Today, the cult is officially practiced by about 800,000 people in 600 temples not only in Brazil. The main temple is located near Planaltina, in the Brazilian state of Goiás, where we also spent a long afternoon.

What is really special about Vale do Amanhecer for us is the work of the mediums, each medium sitting on their thrones and people coming to them from the street with questions about health, spiritual path, love and success. And yet every one of these mediums, they still pay to do this spiritual ministry. That is, they do not pay those who come for healing and insight, as we do in the white brother's land. Here the finances pay the mediums who can work and through that perfect themselves in selfless service.

When you sit down with a medium, he doesn't even look at you because he has the power of one of the spirits and deities, he just shakes you lightly, takes your hands and starts talking. It names your life path, spiritual teachings, prays for you, invokes powers and deities, clears blocks. And because his work is "demanding" behind every medium who sits on the throne there is a kind of "guard" (he has a kind of proper "police suit with many flicks") and he constantly cleanses the medium spiritually, prays for him and sometimes even physically supports and holds him when the medium is strongly affected by the spiritual force that descends into his body from the heavens.

It is fascinating to see the invisible relationship between the medium and the "media watchdog". Vale do Amanhecer can teach us a lot about our spiritual concepts that we white faces have within us. It can teach us much about the work of the medium, and the obscurity of that work and service. Perhaps that is also why we are so pleased that we can do our rapé sessions completely free and without bias 🙂 And so equally beyond concepts of what a proper Rapé session should look like. Fortunately, any Indian will tell you , there is no "proper ceremonial" with Rapé it is a journey of the heart... Just like the service in Vela do Amanhecer.

And finally, the amazement when you sit in the Vela do Amanhecer hall and next to you is a Catholic, an Umbandist and an INDIAN and we all go to sit in front of the media and their thrones ... wow ....

This is for us the authenticity and concept of Brazilian SPIRITUALITY WITHOUT CONCEPTS...
