These handmade maraca (shamanic rattles) are made by the Shipibo Indians of the Pucalpa region of Peru. The maracas are decorated with bird feathers collected from the Amazon rainforest. The handle of the rattles is made of Ayahuasca liana.
This rattlesnake is also called Ch-Cha after the sound made by the seed shells that are attached to it. The Maraca varies slightly in color, shape and design, all handmade by natives of the Peruvian Amazon rainforest. The "shamanic rattle" is used to open and close sacred ritual spaces and also to energetically clear people and rooms.
Apart from the drum, the rattle has always been one of the most important shamanic instruments around the world.
