Until the mid-1950s, the de Tucum line was the only available source in the rainforest for the production of artisanal yarns used to make sleeping hammocks, fishing lines, nets, ropes, clothing and utensils. It is an item that has been fully associated with the soul of the Indian for centuries, as this was one of the main tools in the rainforest.
At Sarava, we believe that when people understand how and in what context each product is made, know the origins of each piece and the cosmology behind the traditional adornment, a gap opens from the mundane that can reveal the material and immaterial greatness of indigenous art. The energy of Tucum do Sarava brings the understanding that we can be more together in this, in unity.
In the symbolic universe of several Amazonian communities, the tucum line is considered the "Line of Loyalty" because it has great resilience and never breaks.
