Necklace from palm tree and Tucum line, made by our Brazilian friend directly for sarava.cz. In the rainforest teachings, the Tucum line is considered the "line of loyalty" because this string, made by the Indians, is very durable and will never break. Tucum fiber is obtained by extracting it from the tassel of a palm leaf, then it is washed, boiled, combed and exposed to sunlight and rest to be combed again, the whole process taking more than a week.

Until the mid-1950s, the de Tucum line was the only available source in the rainforest for the production of artisanal yarns used to make sleeping hammocks, fishing lines, nets, ropes, clothing and utensils. It is an item that has been fully associated with the soul of the Indian for centuries, as this was one of the main tools in the rainforest.

At Sarava, we believe that when people understand how and in what context each product is made, know the origins of each piece and the cosmology behind the traditional adornment, a gap opens from the mundane that can reveal the material and immaterial greatness of indigenous art. The energy of Tucum do Sarava brings the understanding that we can be more together in this, in unity.

In the symbolic universe of several Amazonian communities, the tucum line is considered the "Line of Loyalty" because it has great resilience and never breaks.
