Various sacred herbs or resins are used for ritual smudging across cultures. smudging They serve a variety of purposes. Sacred smoke (Fumaça) cleanses from negative influences or calls spirits to help us in our work, or serves to carry our prayers to the creator. Each smoking substance has its own spirit, its own character and is suited to different ways of working.

How do you do that?
The abalon shell is well used both for direct smudging of herbs and as a container for smudging with carbon. If you choose to smudging with carbon, fill the shell preferably with sand or salt. Place the lit charcoal on top of it and you can already burn anything, and the shell with sand will keep it safe and, by being on a stand, it will shield the heat that would otherwise radiate to the mat. If you want to smoke herbs directly, you can simply light them right in the shell itself, or use it to set aside smouldering herbs.

Do not leave the fumigant unattended or near flammable objects.
