Pataxo

Even today, the Pataxó Indians strive to keep their traditions alive. Every month during the full moon, they hold Luacheia (full moon) rituals, where everyone comes together to connect with the earth, with the place where they live, and with themselves. An important element of their culture is their handicrafts, particularly jewelry made from the seeds of local trees and shrubs and the feathers of locally living birds. They use these items as protective aids during rituals, and by wearing them, they express respect for the spirits of the land where they live and their connection to the Great Spirit.
