These handmade maraca (shamanic rattles) are made by the Shipibo Indians of the Pucalpa region of Peru. The maracas are decorated with colorful threads and bird feathers collected in the Amazon rainforest. The handle of the rattlesnake is made from durable Chonta palm wood and the head of the rattlesnake is made from the fruit of a sacred plant called Wingo.
We specifically chose the rattles according to the sound of the seeds inside, so that the rattles have a nice clear and strong sound. Maraca's vary slightly in color, shape and design, all handmade by natives of the Peruvian Amazon rainforest. The "shamanic rattle" is used to open and close sacred ritual spaces and also to energetically clear people and rooms.
Apart from the drum, the rattle has always been one of the most important shamanic instruments around the world.
Length of maraca: approx. 22cm
