Pataxó Tribe - Sarava

Tribo Indigeno PATAXÓ

The Brazilian Pataxó tribe lives on the Atlantic coast of Bahia. The name Pataxó means the parrot spirit. The main medicine of this tribe is the Rapé. The Pataxó Indians have great respect for Rapé. When they start working with Rapé, for several months they can't blow to anyone but themselves. After they reach a certain spiritual level, then they can apply Rapé to someone else. Pataxo Indians respect their traditions and still keep them alive. They are open to sharing with the world, but they still keep some secrets about making Rapé medicine just for themselves.
