For hundreds of years, the Shipibo tribe has produced visual art inspired by the rivers of knowledge of the sacred plant Ayahuasca. The Shipibo maintain this ancient art because it brings a living spirit to ceremonial blankets and clothing. We meet the women who create them, listen to their stories, visit their homes and pay our respects to their impressive culture. The fabrics are not just art, but are accompanied by a story of family and tribe. These blankets preserve an ancient tradition that is threatened by modernism and industrialisation, which are changing the territory and affecting the livelihoods of tribes living in the rainforest. Our intention is to preserve, honor and promote the art of the proud Shipibo Indians. Each item carries with it a story inspired by the medicinal plants of the jungle.
