Huni Kuin Imburana

The name Imburana comes from the Tupi (Guarani) language. Breaking down the word, we find that "y-mb-ú" means water tree and "ra-na" can be translated as false. It is very popular and recognized rapé among the Huni Kuin Indians for its power. It is made from the ashes of the fruit of the Imburana tree.

The composition of specific rapé are completely secret and in every Huni Kuin village they are passed down through the generations and are seen as sacred.

This means that it is impossible to know the exact content.

However, what we do know about this Huni Kuin Imburana rapé is that the main ingredients are the ash from the fruit of the Imburana tree, Amburana or Cumaru de Cheiro(Amburana acreana).
