Cacao has been a traditional sacred plant and food of Indians across the Amazon for centuries, where it is used in various forms and for various purposes. 100% cacao mass from unroasted cacao beans is a real delicacy full of nutrients and antioxidants.

Our cocoa mass comes from farmer Don Felipe and is made in his small manufactory in the Pucalpa region. He is one of the few farmers who still grow Crilolo in Peru, as this rare variety does not have such high yields compared to other varieties.

The Criollo cacao tree is native to South America. Criollo accounts for only 5% of world production. High-quality Criollo is even rarer. The Criollo variety is particularly difficult to grow. The trees are vulnerable to various ecological threats and typical cocoa diseases.

High quality Criollo beans are white to porcelain in color and are considered richer in aroma and variety of flavors than other varieties. Their taste is often described as delicious and delicate with a complex mixture of secondary flavours. Sometimes low in classic chocolate flavour but rich in secondary notes of long duration. Criollo, considered the 'Prince of Cocoa', is used for cocoa ceremonies precisely because of its strength and richness.

Cocoa paste still contains cocoa butter, so please don't be scared by the "greasy eyes" on the drink.

Preparation of the cocoa drink: dissolve the cocoa in a hot water bath(do not exceed 45 °C to preserve its full nutritional spectrum). You will enjoy its natural full bitter taste and incredible richness. Of course, you can also sweeten the cocoa if you wish, e.g. with honey, or you can "tone it down" with oat or coconut milk.
