Description

Wairuru bracelet – from the sacred seeds of the South American tree Huayruro (ormosia coccinea), a botanical species from the legume family. This tree grows only in the tropical and very humid Amazon zones of South America and in some areas of Central America. The adult tree reaches 30 to 35 m and changes its name depending on the area – in Peru and Bolivia it is known as Huayruro, Nene or Chumico in Costa Rica.

The seed could be described as ‘‘ the seed of happiness ‘‘, but it has other traditional uses in the history of civilizations. Chroniclers mention the use of huayrura in cultures before the Inca period, when it was mainly used for amulets and shamanic rituals.

These seeds are very hard, have the typical red and black color and are considered sacred. They have protective power. Even today, huayruro is worn to evoke happiness and repel all negative energies and envy. Another of his traits is the unity of couples and overall success. Legend has it that the wife of the Inca ruler, Colla, suffered from a very rare disease described as severe grief for the soul. The court shamans therefore advised her to wear a necklace made of huayruro seeds, specially collected and treated with a complex ritual. This therapy is said to have healed Colla.

We can clean the bracelet by immersing it in soapy water, wiping it dry and letting it dry. For greater gloss, we can coat and polish a drop of oil.

However, the seed is highly toxic to humans.
