The Kuripe, a spiritual instrument used by the Puyanawa people, was made exclusively for Sarava. The making of the kuripé is done with many prayers and, as the Indians say, is intended for ritual use. The kuripé is made of bamboo, decorated with beads, a marirí flower, a shell, a seed or a glass stone, all of which carry the cosmology of the tribe. We send the kuripé including a pouch, handmade by Lucie, because we believe that instruments of power deserve good care and protection.

These curipas are a connection with the forest, nature and the spirits of the rainforest (caboclos). The curipé is for personal use and self application. This curipé was made especially for Sarava. It was made with great love by our friend Antonio Puyanawa. His production reflects beautiful and delicate work in every detail, and this always makes us very happy. As Antonio says with every use of this curipe, you call upon the power of the forest and that sacred power comes through this instrument of power directly to you.

Instruments of power should always be in protective packaging, always stored with reverence and respect, for this reason we also pack these blowers in bags that are hand sewn for you by Lucie.

These bags are packed free of charge and do not affect the price of the product as such.

Puyanawa tribe

In the early 20th century, the Puyanawa inhabited the headwaters of tributaries of the lower Moa River, and after contact with non-Indians, they were forced to live on land belonging to a colonel named Mancio Lima. Today they live in two villages, Barão do Rio Branco and Ipiranga located in the municipality of Mancio Lima, in Acre on the banks of the Moa River. this village is known as Pivo de Sapo ( people of the frog).
