Kuripe made of Palo Santo wood. Small family-run workshops around Cusco and MachuPicchu produce beautiful ritual objects from different types of wood and stone. We were interested in these kuripe because they are sturdy and beautiful. Their carving brings out the power of the power animals.
Jaguar
The head of the Jaguar connects us with the spirit of this powerful guardian of the medicine space. Jaguar Spirit is the gatekeeper of the West. He brings sharp physical and spiritual vision and helps us to restore the balance between our primitive impulses and our divine self. The Jaguar represents strength, valor, loyalty, fierceness, self-confidence and many other qualities representing inner strength. The jaguar teaches us how to stand firm in our truth, hold our heads high, believe in ourselves and walk our paths with grace. Jaguar also teaches us to be brave and fearlessly dive deep into unknown waters. The jaguar was worshipped by the Mayans, Aztecs and Incas. The jaguar was seen as a god in Peru, Mexico, Guatemala and pre-Columbian America.
Eagle / Condor
The head of the Eagle connects us to the spirit of this majestic power animal with its "all-seeing eye", always able to zoom in on small details and perceive the whole picture without illusion or deception. The eagle symbolizes wisdom, intuition, courage, strength, honesty, truth, grounding, healing, resilience, leadership, vision, creativity and much more. This incredible bird flies high and is associated with the air element, but has strong legs that keep it firmly grounded. The eagle is also associated with the symbol of the sun, so it can be associated with all the gods of the heavens. The eagle teaches us to surrender to the will of the divine and let ourselves flow on the wings of the Great Spirit. Its spirit is often called upon to assist in shamanic practices and rituals. Eagle and Condor both come from the East, the place of the rising sun, and teach us how to break through our limits and trust in our potential to reach higher and higher.
